The opposite of social inclusion is social exclusion.
One source defines social exclusion as being excluded from society, or parts of society, as a result of one or more of the following factors:
unemployment;
financial hardship;
youth, or old age;
ill health (physical or mental);
substance abuse or dependency, including alcohol and other drugs;
discrimination on the grounds of sex, race ethnic origin, religion, creed or sexuality;
poor educational or skills attainment;
relationship and family breakdown;
poor housing (that is housing that does not meet basic habitable standards);
crime (either as a victim of crime or as an offender rehabilitating into society).
Select at least one of the social exclusion factors listed above and discuss your experience either personal or observation of others and the impact. Include an example of how recreation did or could have provided the opportunity for social inclusion in the situation. (Remember to meet the 150 words requirement.)
