Answer: Mr. Patterson inspite of having great courage that this wound will not affect his regular work, will not be able to get healed up untill and unless he won't get control over his diabetes. Although at earliest stage he only had a small wound but due to pre-desposing nature of diabetes to the infections, his wound got infected later on. The diabetes not only cause delay in the healing process but also work as a media for the growth and multiplication of bacteria. It also lowers the body immune response.

The learnings that I will take forward to my clinical practice are:

- Will keep the patient on a diet with optimal sugar intake.

- In case of high blood glucose level, will go for anti-diabetic drugs and if necessary will also go for insulin injections.

- In a patient with diabetes, we need to undergo with antibiotics. The antibiotics will prevents the chances of infections. But the use of antibiotics will not be much as because it may cause chances of secondary infection.

- The patient must be counciled well in such a condition because as you can see Mr. Patterson is overconfident and unknown with the complications of diabetes.
